'To Archaeologists, the human past is owned by no one. It represents the cultural heritage of everyone that has ever lived on Earth or will ever live on it in the future'

We are actively engaged in a programme of research in order to further the study of archaeology and raise public awareness. This work combines traditional fieldwork techniques with experimental archaeology.

A key priority of our research is to include those who may not be directly involved in archaeology but have a general interest in the subject.

For this reason, a series of courses are integral to our projects and open to all. These range from weekend fieldwork trips in the winter and spring to 4 weeks of excavation and experimentation in the summer.

We are currently involved in 2 very different research projects. 'The Defence of Winchester Project' is investigating the military and civil defences around Winchester in Hampshire, and 'The Cholderton Archaeological Project' is a new study which aims to examine the prehistoric culture of a site in Wessex through fieldwork and experimental archaeology.
